This is the fourth time that I am trying to write this post. On earlier ocassions, I wrote half a page and it was deleted and could not be recovered. ( Sobs..)
Today just now I was watching a video on YouTube after reading an article on 'Gandhi' doing a striptease. While reading the article I thought that the video would be featuring original Gandhi who might have done those acts while his stay away from home.
But, the video (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=gandhi+%2B+pole+dance) featured a fake guy ( who was doubling for Gandhi).
First, my take on Gandhi and his philosophy. I personally do not endorse and subscribe to his philosophy ( by the way who cares, what I believe in or not, or for that matter what any other person believes). I do not like him to be called as 'Mahatma' and 'Father of Nation'. ( Will talk on this topic some time later in other post, not now).
I am a strong supporter of 'Right to freedom' and 'Right to express' but as they say I have a strong belief in "Your right ends where my nose starts." If one wanna have fun or enjoy or entertain oneself it should not be on expense of others, it should not hurt others. Though, having said that I also agree that it is impossible to please all so one person or the other may be hurt by your deeds but; your acts or deeds should have good intentions.
Now, coming again onto the video, I tried to be as neutral as possible but could not stop myself being outraged by the content of the video. The video was not done by good intention but to encash the cheap publicity. Furthermore, as I have already stated my takes and views, I became angry because the guy took advantage of a dead person (who happens to be very famous and is being worshipped by millions). The way it was being filmed was funny ( was it really????) but shameful act if you think that it is being done by an Indian and whatmore outside India.
Yes, I do not support Gandhi or his philosophy but I am patriotic in my own ways. Gandhi is a representative of India to the world. One can not and must not defame him in public or in front of the outsiders. It is just like the case that if you do not agree to your Father or Mother or any close relative you do not go to public to resolve the dispute. If you resent, you argue, you try to let them see your viewpoint not that you start abusing them in public. I was hurt because it hurt my sentiments of being an INDIAN.
Its high time we learnt to respect our Heroes, lest we become a shameless creatures of a shameless country.
